BIRTH PHOTOGRAPHY
YOUR VERY FIRST MEETING
LOOKING BACK AT THE FIRST BREATH
Some events in our lives happen again and again. Never exactly the same, yet often with familiar elements and a certain measure of predictability. Others are not. They can be unique, life-changing, emotionally charged, shaking the very foundations of who we are. Like the birth of a little person. A new life entering the world, a being the world has never met before, and a family expanding into something entirely new. It's so easy to forget the journey that led there. The teamwork in your little bubble, the raw, unparalleled strength, all the emotions, the inner power you summoned and the love. The last hours with the belly, and the very first moments with your baby in your arms. The smallest, yet at the same time the biggest moments of your life. Time rushes by, and even though the feeling stays with us, memories slowly fade. And sometimes, you wish you could travel back in time just to pause, to experience it all once more. The moment when life as you knew it began. By documenting it, you give yourself the chance to relive the experience, to hold onto that moment just a little bit longer.
DOULA & PHOTOGRAPHER
As a trained doula, I guarantee to document the entire birth with the utmost respect for your experience. Your calm, safety, and undisturbed space are always my top priority.
PHOTOGRAPHER IN GOTHENBURG
I primarily document births in Gothenburg and the surrounding areas (Borås, Varberg, Trollhättan), but I occasionally take assignments in Skövde as well. I attend both hospital and home births, as well as births at BB Gårda. Want to know more? Don't hesitate to reach out, and we'll discuss your specific wishes!
CAPTURE MORE MOMENTS
Do you want to document your family and the whole journey, from the growing bump, the birth, and the first days in the newborn bubble? Or maybe your baby's first year, from their very first breath to those first wobbly steps? I offer several different photography packages to choose from.
"There is power that
comes to women when they give birth. They don't ask for it, it simply
invades them. Accumulates like clouds on the horizon and passes through,
carrying the child with it."
- Sheryl Feldman

TESTIMONIALS

FROM BOOKING TO DELIVERY
REQUEST
Are you curious about documenting your birth, or do you already feel this would be right for you? Don't hesitate to contact me via the form on the website or by email (info@hannaedholm.se) and we'll talk more.
BOOKING
If you then decide to invite me to join your baby journey, we'll schedule a meeting (either in person or digitally via video) where we go through all practical matters and your thoughts ahead of the birth. We'll sign the agreement, and the first invoice will be sent to you.
PHOTO SHOOT
We stay in touch as your due date approaches, and when labor begins, I'll be there to document the entire journey. From the labor with your birth team, to the first kisses on tiny feet, and all the cozy moments in the newborn bubble.
DELIVERY
Within the first week after birth, I try to send over a little sneak peek, and then after 6–8 weeks you'll get access to your fully edited online gallery. You'll also receive download links so you can save all the images.
FAQ
Can I combine doula & photography?
I don't take combo assignments where I promise 100% of both doula support and photography. However, I do offer doula services with the option to add photography (when and where it's possible to combine, including the first hours after the baby is born). Feel free to get in touch, and we can talk more about how it could work for you.
What if labor starts early?
I am ready and available with 24/7 on-call support from two weeks before your due date until your baby is born. If labor starts earlier than that, I will of course do everything I can to be there anyway. Should that situation arise, you contact me as usual, and we'll see if I'm able to make it. I cannot guarantee availability, but I will always do my utmost to make it work.
Do we meet at all before the birth?
Yes, absolutely! We'll first have a short, free introductory meeting (digital) before you decide whether you want to hire me as your photographer.
If you choose to move forward with the booking, we'll meet one more time to go through all the practical details, discuss your wishes, and clarify any questions about your birth. For me, it's important that you feel safe and comfortable with me documenting your journey on your terms.
What happens if you miss the birth?
A birth can never be fully planned, and it can be unpredictable, so I can never give a 100% guarantee. Sometimes babies are in a huge hurry to arrive, and that's beyond our control. That's why I always place great importance on communication and encourage you to keep me "in the loop" when you think things are starting. Better to call one time too many (even if it turns out to be a false alarm) than to wait too long "to be completely sure it's happening."
I always have my bags packed and ready, and I do everything I can to arrive on time and not miss anything. IF the baby decides to arrive faster than we expected and I can't get there in time, I will still document the first hours of life with your little one from the outside. Those will be amazing photos too.
How does it work with a planned cesarean?
If you have a planned cesarean, it's still possible to document the birth, though there may be restrictions on how many people can be present inside the operating room.
Once you have a date, just let me know. I'll reserve it in my calendar, contact the hospital to check what's possible and what rules we need to follow. Then we'll meet at the hospital as usual on the day. If I'm not allowed inside the operating room, I'll document everything before and after the birth. The anticipation, the waiting, your first moments with your newest family member, and the first hours in the baby bubble. The full experience and emotions will still be captured in the gallery.
What happens in case of complications?
If complications arise during the birth, I will tune in to the situation and adapt accordingly. Safety and respect for you, as well as for the staff and their work, always come first, and if it is not appropriate to take photos, I will hold off. We will also discuss your thoughts on potential complications when we meet before the birth, so you feel confident that I will act according to your wishes.
In the case of, for example, an emergency cesarean, I will try to be present as much as allowed and as you wish, up until the first hours with your baby in your arms outside the operating room.
What happens if the birth takes a very long time?
Every birth is unique, and it's impossible to know in advance how long it will take. I'm prepared for all kinds of scenarios, and you don't need to worry about anything other than doing your thing. I'll be there no matter how long it takes and won't leave until it feels right for you and your baby is born.
If the birth comes to a complete stop, we'll see how everything feels in the moment. I might go home for a short while and come back when things start up again, or take a walk/eat/rest nearby. No problem at all if that happens.
What equipment is used?
When photographing a birth, my goal is always to document as unobtrusively as possible. I therefore do not use a flash or anything else that could disturb the birth or the experience in the room; I only bring my cameras.
When will I get to see the photos?
Within the first week after the birth, you will get access to a small sneak peek (a few edited images) that you can enjoy yourselves or share with family and friends. The rest of the gallery will be delivered within 6–8 weeks.
How are the photos handled and used?
After selection and editing, all photos will be delivered to you and will not be shown to anyone else without your permission. They are stored and backed up (for at least one year) on a secure, private server that only I have access to, in case anything happens to your images. Nothing is displayed or used without your consent.
How much will be visible? Can I change my mind?
Before the birth, we go through your wishes and preferences, including anything you already know you definitely want or absolutely do not want photographed. I always try to take photos with your preferences in mind. The handling of the images is done with the utmost respect for your privacy, and any photos taken during the birth are never shown to anyone else without your approval. If the selection I send to you includes images you are not comfortable with, I will delete them so they are not saved anywhere, although this rarely becomes an issue.
